If Los Angeles isn't the basketball capital of the world, it's certainly close to it. Our Los Angeles Lakers trounced the Philadelphia 76ers in June 2001 to win their second-in-a-row NBA Championship. Click on the Lakers link below to learn more. Although we Angelenos miss having an NFL pro football team, we did have one season of football glory in 2001 when the Los Angeles Xtreme won the XFL's first and only national championship.
